Sakura Scented Candles
Cherry blossom is a short season outdoors, and most people want it in the room for longer than the tree allows. That is the job these do. Sakura belongs to all of them, and on several a second scent is written next to it, so the full product name tells you what else is in there: Black lily, Choco-coffee or Vanilla.
Shape settles where a candle can stand better than the scent does. There are slim pillars and reliefs, a pyramid, a prism, hearts both large and medium, a sphere, and a round candle set with stones for a wedding table. A sphere wants something beneath it that will not let it travel across the surface. The reliefs, ROSE and MARIE, deserve a spot where they are looked at from the front rather than half hidden behind a bowl.
Pyramid Candle Pentagon 9 stands 11 cm and is rated 17-30 hours, which is a run of several evenings rather than one. Every candle here is made in Kralovske Porici, and a camera runs in the workshop while the work goes on, so you can watch it happen rather than take our word for it.
Sorting out the sizes before you pick one
Start at the small end. Small Pillar Candle Sakura - SVITSOL | Japanese Spring measures 3.5 cm across and 7 cm up, weighs 0.07 Kg, and carries a rating of 9-12 hours — a dinner, maybe two short ones. Relief Candle ROSE Pink goes to 9 cm but swells from 3.5 bottom + 7 middle cm, so it claims more table than a pillar does: 0.15 Kg, rated 12-21 hours.
Taller is not automatically longer. Prism Candle 5 reaches 19 cm on a 5x5 cm base and 0.41 Kg, yet the rating is 19-33 hours. Relief Candle MARIE Pink stops lower at 16 cm, is 4 cm across, weighs 0.27 Kg and is rated 28-39 hours; Relief Candle MARIE Pink-Black matches it exactly. For a chest of drawers, where the same candle is looked at for weeks, MARIE earns its place.
At the far end, Sphere Candle Large 2 is 12 cm across, 0.74 Kg, rated 72-96 hours, which is the longest rating on this page; give it a flat, steady spot of its own. Nothing here stands higher than Candle HEART large purple speckled 6 wicks at 20 cm, 0.74 Kg — a centrepiece rather than a shelf ornament. Width on its own buys no hours, though: Candle HEARTS circle pink-orange and Round Wedding Candle with Stones 3 reach 14 cm across at 0.18 Kg and are rated 6-13 hours, and Candle medium HEART red-black is 10x9 cm at the same 0.18 Kg, rated 5-12 hours. Those suit one occasion with people round the table.
Whichever goes home, shorten the wick before every lighting. On the first evening let it run long enough for the wax to open right across the top; stopping short leaves the flame working downward into a narrow well ever after. Level, non-flammable base, still air, someone in the room — and small hearts up out of the way of a child or a cat.
