Triangle Candles

Geometric Candles – Triangle Shapes Hand-Poured in Bohemia

A geometric candle in triangle form is the most stable shape you can put on a table. Three sides, three vertices, wide base, low centre of gravity – it stays where you place it. We have been pouring geometric candles by hand in Královské Poříčí for over 20 years, and the triangle remains one of our most-requested shapes.

The triangle is not a trend. Architects use it for bridges, builders use it for roofs, and we use it for candles because it works. When customers search for a geometric candle that actually stands on its own, they end up here.

Why the triangle works as a geometric candle

A square candle expands at the corners as it burns. A round candle rolls if the wax pools unevenly. A triangle keeps its outline until the last hour of burning. That is the practical reason for the shape – the rest is aesthetics.

The triangular silhouette throws sharper shadows on the wall than a cylinder, which is why interior designers order them for showrooms and photographers borrow them for product shoots. A row of three triangles of different heights on a shelf does more work than ten generic tea lights.

A true story (a little more esoteric)

Last year, a therapist came to us. "I need triangle candles for couple's therapy," she said. We looked at her, a little puzzled. She explained: "The triangle symbolizes a relationship – two people and their shared journey. When couples see a burning triangle, it reminds them that they are not just two, but three entities – him, her, and the relationship."

We made 20 for her. Half a year later, she ordered another 50. "It works," she wrote. "Couples buy them for their homes and light them when they need to be reminded of what it's all about."

Since then, we know – a triangle is not just geometry. It's a symbol.

Why people order geometric triangle candles

1. Symbol of the number three

Past – present – future. Body – mind – soul. Father – mother – child. The number three runs through religion, fairy tales and family structure. A triangular candle puts that symbol on the table without saying a word.

2. Original design

How many triangular candles have you seen in someone's living room? Exactly. Put one on the table and the first question is always the same: where did you get that.

3. Genuine stability

It will not tip over if a child runs past or a cat brushes the table leg. Wide base, low centre of gravity. That is geometry, not marketing.

4. The shadows

A burning triangular candle casts sharp triangular shadows on the wall. It looks like a small light installation – which is why these candles photograph well.

Our triangle selection

Equilateral triangles

Mini (7 cm side): shelf piece, fits between books
Medium (15 cm): the classic dining-table size
Large (25 cm): statement piece for the living room
Giant (40 cm): made to order, weighs around 3 kilograms

Tall triangles

Taller than they are wide – a more dramatic silhouette, similar to a small mountain peak.

Special editions

  • 3D effect: each side a different colour
  • Striped: horizontal stripes, retro feel
  • Galaxy: black wax with glitter
  • Ombre: gradient from dark to light
  • Set of three sizes: small, medium, large – stacked like Russian dolls

Who buys geometric candles from us

Couples: "It's about the two of us and our life together."
Mathematicians and engineers: "Finally a candle that makes geometric sense."
Designers: brutalist shape, minimalist aesthetic, fits a concrete interior.
Esoteric customers: "The triangle concentrates energy." Maybe yes, maybe no – we just pour the wax.
Parents of three children: "Each vertex is one child."
Companies: triangular logo? We make a corporate edition with branding on one side.

Materials

We pour our geometric candles from paraffin wax, beeswax or soy wax, depending on the edition. The wick is cotton, placed at the centre of gravity so the candle burns down evenly through the body of the triangle. Scents are added from natural essential oils.

Practical uses

Family rituals: light it when all three are home.
Meetings: a triangle on the table = three agenda items, one for each vertex.
Meditation: focus on one vertex, then the next, then the third.
Anniversaries divisible by three: 30, 33, 60, 63.
Decoration: three triangles of different sizes, lined up – an instant arrangement.

How to burn a triangular candle properly

  1. Flat surface first. A triangle on a slanted table is asking for trouble.
  2. First burn long enough for the whole top layer to melt. This prevents tunnelling.
  3. Trim the wick to 5–7 mm. Any longer and it smokes.
  4. Plate underneath. The candle is stable, but wax is wax.
  5. Rotate 120° after each use. The triangle burns down evenly that way.

Custom geometric candles

Basic sizes are kept in stock. For special requests – different colour, scent, engraved text on one side, corporate edition with a logo – we usually deliver within a week. Text on the edges is not technically possible; on one flat side it is.
