Orange Candles
Orange gets picked when a room needs some heat in it — a table set for guests, a hallway that goes dark by four, a shelf that has gone flat since the summer. Every candle here has orange in it, and on a good number of them it works next to a second colour: Relief Candle LESUPAN Brown-Orange, or a small pinecone lifted with gold glitter over the orange.
Shape is where they stop agreeing. Pinecones, chakra pillars in MINI, MIDI and MAXI, pyramids called Pentagon, Rocket and Tetrahedron, right triangles, cones, the Sunray prisms, round mandala candles that arrive with a stand of their own, and relief pillars. Scent is decided apart from all that: Orange and Vanilla-orange as the direct route, then Bergamot, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Lavender, Mint, Jasmine, Rose, Citronella, Wild strawberry, Vanilla-wild strawberry, Green apple, Cucumber freshness, Vanilla, Dream, Choco-coffee, Choco-coffee-cinnamon, Euphoria and Fruit fragrance blend.

What fits where, and the first lighting
Start from the surface it will stand on, not from the shape you like. Two candles here can agree on the tape measure and behave nothing alike: Small Cone Candle 2 and Small Cone Candle 3 are 14 cm tall over a 6.5 cm width, weigh 0.13 Kg and give 19-31 hours, while Prism Candle Sunray 2 and Sunray 6 hold those same 14 cm and 6.5 cm at 0.46 Kg and 45-75 hours. A paraffin wax blend goes into the cones, prisms, pyramids and pinecones.
- A table laid for the evening: Pyramid Candle Tetrahedron 3, 5 and 6 — 21 cm, 0.23 Kg, 25-30 hours.
- The same 21 cm for a shorter sitting: Right Triangle Candle 1, 4 and 5 — 0.27 Kg, 7-15 hours.
- A shelf where height reads well: Pyramid Candle Rocket 4 and 9 — 19 cm, 9 cm across, 0.26 Kg, 19-29 hours.
- Bedside, bathroom ledge, a windowsill in a small room: CANDLE MOON DOVE — 5 cm, 0.17 Kg, 2-13 hours.
When the candle is meant to be the object in the room rather than the light on the table, Relief Candle Picasso with Three Wicks – Weather Texture, Euphoria, 4.4kg stands 59 cm tall with three wicks in it, 10 cm across, and holds 860-960 hours. Nothing else here comes near it on height, weight or hours. Its scent, Euphoria, brings flowers, ripe fruit and amber.
Two habits are worth keeping. Cut the wick back before you light it, and on the first evening leave it burning long enough for the melted top to reach the edge all the way round. Flat, non-flammable surface underneath, no draught over it, and it never burns in an empty room, or where children and animals can get to it.
