Red Sunray Prism Candle — the essentials

This is a red prism candle, 14 cm tall, 6 cm in diameter and weighing 0.41 kg. Made from a premium paraffin wax blend with a 100% cotton wick, burn time 19–33 hours depending on the setting and draughts. Fragrance: vanilla-wild strawberry. We make it by hand in Královské Poříčí in the Karlovy Vary Region. The SVITSOL brand was founded in 2004.

What is it made of?

It is made from a premium paraffin wax blend. The blend keeps its shape even in a warm room and carries the colour evenly throughout — the prism does not lose its shade even after being lit many times. The wick is 100% cotton; we use no other type of wick in this range.

The dye runs through the whole body, not just the surface. When the candle has burned halfway down, the walls stay a rich red and glow through — which is why red prism candles are worth placing where they can be seen even in the dark.

How long does it burn?

19–33 hours. The range is not caution but experience: in a calm room without draughts it lasts to the upper limit, while by a half-open window or in a passageway it burns down faster. How long you let it burn at a time also plays a role.

Trim the wick to 5–6 mm before each lighting and let the candle burn for at least an hour in one go. The wax then has time to melt across the whole surface, and no tunnel forms in the middle for the flame to sink into while the rest of the wax stays untouched on the walls.

What does it look like?

It is a prism with sharp edges and flat faces. At 14 cm tall it becomes the focal point of a group — place two lower candles next to it and the arrangement is done. The straight sides suit a display cabinet or a narrow shelf, where a round shape takes up space unnecessarily.

Unlit, it serves as a decoration. It fits wherever you want one striking accent in an otherwise muted interior — living room, dining table, windowsill, bathroom.

What does it smell like?

Vanilla-wild strawberry. Sweet but not heavy — it suits the living room as well as the bedroom. In the dining room, light it after the meal rather than during it, so the fragrance does not compete with the food on the table.

What does a red candle mean?

Red is the colour of fire, warmth and energy. In customary symbolism it is associated with vitality, courage and the bond between two people — which is why red candles are traditionally lit during Advent, on anniversaries and at dinners for two. Some people use them in meditation as a point to focus on.

We do not prescribe any of this. A red candle takes on its meaning mainly from what you light it for.

How to care for the candle

Trim the wick to 5–6 mm before each lighting. Do not let it burn for more than 2–3 hours at a time — otherwise the flame grows and the wax disappears faster. Place the candle on a non-flammable surface, away from draughts and out of reach of children, and never leave it unattended. Once cooled, the leftover wax at the bottom can be removed and the base reused.
