Small Pinecone Candle - Green

The decorative SMALL PINE CONE candle is 9 cm tall, 5 cm in diameter at its widest point in the middle (2.5 cm at the base) and weighs 0.06 kg. It is made from a premium paraffin wax blend with a cotton wick and a cucumber freshness scent. The burn time is 18–24 hours. We make it by hand in our workshop on the farm in Královské Poříčí in the Karlovy Vary Region. We have been making candles since 2004 – that is 22 years.

The small pine cone candle is a relief candle that looks like a little piece of forest brought indoors. The raised pattern is worked out in fine detail, so it looks good even unlit – on a table, a chest of drawers or as part of seasonal decorations. Once lit, the relief creates a soft play of light and shadow.

Arranging tip: place the cone on a wooden tray with dried fruit, cinnamon and twigs. Several pieces side by side at different heights look better than a single one in the middle of the table.

How we make it

We cast the pine cone by hand, piece by piece. The wax is poured into the mold, left to cool and only then removed – the relief has to come out right down to the last scale, otherwise the piece is set aside. We run the cotton wick through the center so that the candle burns evenly and does not lean to one side.

The paraffin wax blend we use holds the shape of the relief better than softer waxes. That matters for a shaped candle – otherwise the pattern would melt away sooner than it should while burning.

Care and safety

Trim the wick to 5–6 mm before each lighting. Burn the candle on a stable, non-flammable surface, out of reach of children and pets, and never leave it unattended. It burns best in a calm room without drafts – a draft pulls the flame to one side and the wax then runs off unevenly.

The stated burn time of 18–24 hours applies to a calm environment and a trimmed wick. In a draft it will be shorter.
